Hello and happy Friday! This week was all about getting back into my routine post-vacation. I think I’m finally all caught up on sleep, work, and laundry. Very ready for some family time Up North at the lake this weekend. Soaking up the last little bit of summer-ish before fall weather comes on full force (not that I’m mad about the sweaters, pumpkin-waffle-scented candles, and changing leaves on their way!).
I can’t believe this is already the 7th week of blog posting! Luckily, there are lots of things that make me smile that I can share with you guys (some useful, some very random). Here are some of the things this week…
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Mindy Kaling remade the 90’s movie into a mini-series on Hulu and it is SO GOOD, you guys. The 10th and final episode came out this week – I’m so sad it’s over. We truly laughed out loud during every episode. The characters are lovable and unique. Ainsley has grown up Blair Waldorf style I swooned over the whole time. It’s worth a free trial with Hulu if you don’t have it.
Random snacky dinners
Charcuterie boards or grazing dinners are some of my favorite ways to eat. Who said dinner needs to have a main dish? For date night at home yesterday, we threw together a spread of cheese, cured meats, roasted veggies, olives, pretzel crisps & mustard, chips & salsa, and sparkling rosé (of course). Delicious and fun!
The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey
This podcast teaches me so much. Jamie brings on a different “girlfriend” to chat with every week. They all have such powerful stories and messages. Going to a Happy Hour Live (with my sister!) is a dream of mine.
Jasmine Guillory books
I am a total sucker for book covers. I thought the cover of the Proposal was super cute and had Reese Witherspoon’s book club seal on it, so I picked it up. Little did I know this would be part of one of new my favorite series! Turns out it was the second book, but you don’t really need to read them in order – nothing was spoiled, the characters just overlap. I read all three books this summer (the Wedding Date, the Proposal, and the Wedding Party) and there’s another (Royal Holiday) coming out in October! These super cute rom-com stories have great characters and flair. I enjoyed the perspective of women (and men) of color that have different backgrounds than my own. Check them out (linked here).
Haircuts
I’m not sure what does it – the blowout or the trim, but I always leave the hair salon feeling like I can take on the world! This was the first time this year that my appointment was just a cut and no color, but I still left feeling fresh (hence the bathroom selfie above). I finally found someone I fully trust with my hair (shoutout Pam at Alchemy Color Lab!) – I would have never thought to ask for a “shag,” but love it so much.
Okay, that’s five! Time to pick up groceries for the Cottage this weekend. Have a great Friday, friends!
