It’s the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend! This always feels like the kickoff of summer to me. I’m headed Up North for the long weekend, along with probably everyone else in Michigan. MDW combined with only the top part of the state allowed to have things opening up means lots of traffic today. Cue the podcasts! (This post has a bunch of recommendations BTW.)
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill
This novel by Abbi Waxman was such a fun read. Nina Hill was perfectly content with her quiet, bookish life… until she finds out about a whole extended family she never knew she had and the possibility of going out with the cute guy in her trivia league. Definitely recommend.
This cheeseburger puzzle
This 1000-piece puzzle consumed all of my free time (which is obviously a lot) for the first part of this week. It was hard! Now I never want to take it apart…
Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter
This body butter from TJ’s smells incredible and has a great, thick consistency. I love that it doesn’t feel sticky.
Heads Up
Hugh and I often play games (like cards, board games, or trivia), but we’ve gotten a little sick of our typical lineup. To mix things up this week, we played 1-on-1 Heads Up! In case you haven’t played, it’s an app- based game. One person holds the phone up to their forehead and the other(s) try to make him/her guess them in the allotted time. There are some really fun categories for just a few dollars like Harry Potter, 2000’s, and Foods. It’s fun in any sized group and works on Zoom happy hours, too.
Prime Wardrobe
I knew about this Amazon service, but used it for the first time this week. You select up to 8 clothing items and have a week to try everything on and decide what to return. You don’t pay until you pick what you’re keeping! We picked a bunch of jeans for Hugh, which can be such a pain to do in stores. I think we’ll keep using Prime Wardrobe for clothes for him even after stores open back up!
Okay, time to enjoy the holiday weekend! I hope you enjoy it, even if you’re still in quarantine.
What are you doing for MDW?
I’d love to hear about what you’re doing and loving these days! Comment below or reach out!
