Happy Friday (the 13th)! Are you superstitious? I’m not, but today feels really scary with all the coronavirus news out there and people freaking out! I spent the afternoon cleaning the apartment (knowing I’d be spending lots of time here the next few weeks) and braving the grocery store. How are you spending your Friday?
I’m really trying to not focus too much attention on the media and the COVID-19 hysteria to maintain a positive mindset. I wrote a post yesterday about my daily gratitude practice and how it’s helped me. I think writing these Friday Five posts does too! Sitting down tonight to reflect on five things I enjoyed this week reminded me that it’s not all bad. Let’s dive in!
Weekends away with friends
Hugh and I took a couple we’ve become close friends with up to the Cottage last weekend. It was really nice to spend time together. They had never seen a frozen lake before! We played games, checked out a couple little bars, and just relaxed.
Kevin Murphy BLONDE.ANGEL conditioner
I’ve been pretty blonde for almost a year now and this purple conditioner has kept me from going brassy between color appointments. It’s intensely purple, so a little goes a long way! I use it once or twice a week and actually notice a difference when I go too long without it. It’s a little expensive, but a bottle lasts a long time. I’ve had mine for over six months and it’s at least half full.
The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast
It seems all anybody has talked about this week was the coronavirus and the Bachelor finale! The Popcast’s Recaps (mentioned in FF #24) are always my favorite, but Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin host the official Bachelor podcast. This week, they had two exclusive interviews with Hannah Ann (who killed it at After the Final Rose). It was fun hearing some insider perspective from all three women.
Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum
I had a moment last weekend where I looked down and realized how incredibly pale I was! Winter needs to end. I tried a new self tanning serum and really liked it. I had used another Fake Bake product before, but the spray was a little messy. The coconut tanning serum smells pretty good, goes on pretty easily, and comes with gloves. I always use a mitt, but got it separately. Highly recommend!
St. Julian’s Wine Club
Hugh and I joined the St. Julian (a Michigan winery) Wine Club about six months ago because we enjoy their Troy tasting room. We went to our first Wine Club 101 class this week and learned about blending wines. It was fun! The club has some good perks – events like these, free tasting or large pour every time you visit the tasting room, and discounts! We have the two-bottle membership so only pay for those two bottles each quarter.
What are you loving this week?
I know it’s been a crazy week for most of us, but what’s bringing you some joy amongst the chaos? I’d love to hear!
