What a year! A global pandemic. Postponing our wedding, planning a minimony and getting married. New jobs and our first house. 2020 will be a year I never forget.
We’re in Kansas City/St Louis visiting family and friends this week, so I haven’t been as focused on reflecting on this past year as I usually am at this time. However, I put together a list of 20 lessons I learned in 2020.
- Keeping family safe is more important than keeping to a certain timeline
- I’m in charge of my own career
- I’m proud to work for GM
- The joy of connecting to friends over Zoom
- The difference between racist and anti-racist
- Hugh and I have a lot to be proud of and we need to remember that as we keep growing
- What it takes to purchase a home
- I need quality time to feel loved
- How to fight more fairly
- Spending a little more on jeans that fit well is worth the money
- Instagram breaks are necessary for me. Frequently.
- The greatness of Hamilton
- Even introverts don’t do well with total isolation
- My sister and brother-in-law are resilient, Ollie is strong, and we will forever be grateful for the people at Mott’s Children Hospital
- How to make a hotel room home for a little while
- You don’t know what’s really going in the lives of public figures
- Working out in the same as you work all day is really hard
- I don’t need a nice vehicle
- How to cut Hugh’s hair
- People can make big pivots when faced with new challenges
