Friday Five – Things I’m Loving #25

Happy Friday, friends! I have a three-day weekend for MLK Day and zero plans all weekend – no mad about it! We’re getting up to 8 inches of snow, so I plan on staying in to watch movies and make soup and read (and blog!) by the fire all day tomorrow. What are you up to this weekend?

I looked at my list for this week’s Friday Five and a few of these are from last weekend. That feels like forever ago! Anyway, here are this week’s five!

Buffalo Chicken Cauliflower

Ours were not this pretty, so I used mindbodygreen’s photo!

These cauliflower “nachos” are SO delicious! We made these for the College Football Championship on Monday and holy cow. We used panko breadcrumbs instead of pork rinds and used rotisserie chicken so it was really easy! You NEED to make this recipe from mindbodygreen.com.

Johnny’s Speakeasy in Royal Oak

The cocktails were really unique and sometimes served in crazy presentations like this bathtub!

Speakeasy bars and restaurants are really popular right now and I think for good reason! For this one in Royal Oak, you have to text about reservations and they give you a secret word. You ring a doorbell in the alley and a seemingly random guy opens it. You give the secret word and he leads you through the kitchen backroom to stairs down to a beautiful, cozy bar. Johnny’s has live jazz music on Sundays, so we checked it out with another couple. The cocktails are elaborate – extravagant ingredients and sometimes-crazy containers (Hugh’s drink came in a mini bathtub and our friend’s came in a flower pot!). I recommend finding a “speakeasy” in your area!

Body Love by Kelly LeVeque

This book by Kelly LeVeque is just great. I haven’t finished it yet, but I totally agree with her ideas about moving away from diet culture and finding your way to food freedom. Her simple guidelines to eat real food and balance your blood sugar are straight forward and maintainable! I highly recommend you check it out.

InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum

I recently started using a vitamin C serum in the morning. I got this one on Amazon. It smells incredible!

Minted.com

The wedding planning is in full swing! I’ve started looking at Save the Dates and invitations and have settled on Minted.com. I love that they bring together individual independent designers. Their customer service has been great and their website is easy to use! Definitely search for coupon codes if you’re shopping on here

Okay that’s five! Stay warm and safe out there if you’re getting snow this weekend, too! Have a great day!

Your turn!

Have you tried anything new recently? What is bringing you joy lately? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
