Happy Friday! I’m still working on the ventilator project down in Indiana, but I did get about 36 hours back home this week! It was so so great spending some quality time with Hugh, taking a little break, and having somewhere to do laundry/cook food (lol!). I’m feeling refreshed and ready to finish up my part of this project in the next week or two.
I hope you had an enjoyable Easter Weekend despite probably being away from some family. Are you reaching out to loved ones? How are you keeping yourself sane these days? I’d love to hear how you’re doing in the comments below. We’re in this together – remember to hang on to your community! This week’s Five might help you stay entertained, so let’s dive in.
The Honey Don’t List
This new book by Christina Lauren is super cute. I shared another book by this author duo in Friday Five #1 and liked this one just as much. It follows the assistants of celebrity-home-renovators (reminding me of Chip and Joanna Gaines) trying to keep the bickering couple together on their book tour, while falling in love themselves, of course. It’s an easy, fun read – perfect social distancing vibes.
Quibi
Quibi is a brand new streaming service designed to watch on your phone. There’s a HUGE variety of content, but everything is less than 10 minutes long! I’m really impressed with how well everything is produced (and watchable vertically or horizontally). They’re doing a 90-day free trial, but here’s the secret – select the Ad Free subscription. Still free for 90 days and you avoid ads before each video! Credit to Hugh for figuring that out. I suggest The Rachel Hollis Show (are you surprised?), Dishmantled (a kooky cooking competition), You Ain’t Got These (docu-series about sneaker culture), Thanks A Million, and Sexology with Shan Boodram. You will not run out of quick, light-hearted entertainment for many days.
White Claw Variety Pack #2
I love hard seltzers, especially citrusy ones. White Claw has a new variety pack with some amazing flavors – Mango, Tangerine, Watermelon, and Lemon. Tangerine is my favorite (it may even beat out Grapefruit!). Summer will come eventually, but these are also great sips for Zoom happy hours.
RXBars
I don’t usually choose bars as snacks, but I’ve been needing substantial food on-the-go. RXBars are delicious and have really simple ingredients. My favorites are probably Lemon, Coffee Chocolate, and any of the peanut butter flavors.
Chronology
This card game makes me care a little bit more about history (and realize how little I know)! Hugh and I played this a bunch when I was home this week, but it’s also great for bigger groups. Each card has an event and year on it. The goal is to build a timeline of 10 cards, guessing whether the event being read to you happened before or after what’s already laid down. Highly recommend as a quarantine activity or game night add!
Okay that’s my Five! I hope you’re hanging in there and connecting with others during these hard times. Have a good weekend, friends.
