Friday Five – Things I’m Loving #3

Happy Friday, friends! My week was a mix of super productive work days and pulling myself out of a little funk with some self care. How was yours? We have a wedding this weekend – I’m so excited to watch two of my friends from high school finally tie the knot! I love love.

So I meant to get this post up earlier this evening, but I got a little distracted by the Popcast doing an Instagram live (more on them in a minute) that had me cracking up. Then I got my heart broken when my favorite contestant got sent home on Masterchef. But better late than never! Here are five things that made me smile this week.

The Popcast with Knox & Jamie

This is my OG podcast that got me listening to podcasts. Knox and Jamie “educate us on things that entertain but do not matter.” They are hilarious and my guide to all things pop culture. I’m a Best Friend of the Show on Patron so I also get their AUAs, Deep Dives, and Bachelor(ette) Recaps (which are LIFE). They turned 6 years old this week – Happy Birthday, the Popcast! Highly recommend listening to this podcast. Any- and everything they talk about is entertaining.

Homemade chocolate chip cookies

Made these chocolate chip cookies last Sunday and couldn’t stop eating them all week long. The almond flour made them a little lower carb and filling. Definitely going to try more of Meaningful Eat’s recipes. Some of my family stays GF, so I will make something for them next! Recipe here. I made most of the batch, but also froze some of the dough for random fresh cookies on demand!

Detroit’s Eastern Market’s murals

Last night, my boyfriend and I checked out Eastern Market for the first time. It’s a market district downtown with tons of restaurants and shops. We stopped by Eastern Market Brewing Company, Gather, and Bert’s Jazz Club, and walked around looking at the beautiful, colorful murals covering the historic warehouses.

Thrive Market

I’ve been using Thrive Market for pantry staples for about 18 months now. We typically order a haul once or twice a month. Thrive Market is kind of like a Prime membership for quality, healthy, sustainable products. We get most of our pantry staples and snack foods like oils, jerky, crackers, canned goods, and seasonings, but they also have household and beauty products, meat and seafood, and even wines! You pay for the annual membership and get 25-50% off retails prices you’d see somewhere like Whole Foods. They carry a bunch of well-known brands but also have their own. Use my Invite-A-Friend link for 25% off your first order and a 30-day trial before committing to the membership (FYI, I get Thrive Cash if you end up getting the membership using my referral link – thank you!) My lifetime savings is over $900! Check it out.

hint water

Been eying this fruit-infused water for a few months and finally gave it a try! I’m kinda mad I waited so long because I loved it! It’s a nice change up from regular water. So far, I’ve had the lemon and watermelon flavors. Not too sweet and nothing but water and natural flavors. Refreshing!
