Hi, friends – happy Friday! This week seemed to fly by for me. It was weirdly cooled off here in SE Michigan – almost chilly! I’m not ready for summer to end, but relief from the heat was welcome.
I’m starting to get on a roll with this blog thing. I’m working on a few draft posts that I think will provide some really useful advice for getting started eating more real foods and being intentional with your movement! Keep an eye out in the next few weeks. But for now, here are my Friday Five!
My 4 Things tote bag
These custom 4 Things Totes are the cutest! You can any four things you want (this is like Things I’m Loving inception!) to be printed on the tote. I chose sunshine, hazelnut coffee, podcasts, and sparkling wine. What would you choose?
The 4 Things Totes are part of the espwa brand from The Shop Forward (linked here). Espwa means “hope” in Haitian Creole and all proceeds go to great causes there! I heard about it from one of the creators, Amy Brown from the Bobby Bones Show. Check out #4ThingsTote on Instagram for some really good inspiration – it’s so fun looking at what other women chose for theirs!
Living Fully with Mallory Ervin
I just started listening to this podcast this week and I’m hooked already! I’m not fully caught up on the 10 episodes yet, but even after listening to Episode 1 (linked here), I was inspired. Mallory has a huge following on YouTube and Instagram, but I just started following her. Her story is really powerful, her accent is charming, and her guests are insightful. The podcast really aligns with some of the content of this blog, so you will probably like it, too!
MasterChef Season 10
Hugh and I are food competition show fanatics and this is our OG. MasterChef is simply the most well-produced cooking show we’ve found (and we’ve watched quite a few)! One of the things that sets it apart is that the contestants are home cooks rather than pros. Throughout the season, you see them grow so much and learn a lot alongside them! My favorite home cook this season was eliminated last week, but I’m still excited to see who steps it up and wins me (and Gordon Ramsay) over.
Living near family
We met up with my parents yesterday – on a THURSDAY! After living halfway across the country for over 6 years, being an hour away from my fam is a joy. Last minute visits, going Up North for a weekend, stopping by to play with my niece and nephew for a few hours – all without having to book a flight! I want to soak up every minute of it.
mindbodygreen.com
I discovered this wellness-centered website last year after noticing how often it was coming up in my Google searches. It seemed like everything I was looking up and wanting to learn more about had articles written on mbg about it. Mindbodygreen has a 360-degree approach to wellness (like I try to!), so they cover all kinds of topics like Mindfullness, Mental Health, Relationships, Beauty, Planet, and Functional Food – the list goes on and on! The contributors range from doctors, to spiritual leaders, to psychologists, giving a variety of perspectives on all things wellness. They also have classes and events, but I haven’t taken any yet. Here are some examples of articles: on Love, on hunger hormones, on financial wellness, and on anxiety and working out.
And there you have it! My fourth Friday Five!
