She’s baaack!
I recently had to decide whether to keep intentionallymegan.com going or shut it down. I’m gonna try to get regular posts going again! I’ve missed this as a creative outlet, especially now that wedding planning is over. Will I actually stick with it? Time will tell…
I only shared like two Friday Five lists all of 2021, so I have a million things I could include here! Instead of trying to encompass everything I’ve loved in the last year (yikes), these are going to be Things I’m Loving RIGHT NOW per usual.
Time with family and friends
We got to spend a lot of time with family over the holiday break – I’m so grateful! We missed a few people here and there with COVID quarantines, but opened gifts with them over Zoom when we couldn’t all be together. Hugh and I traveled to Kansas City on Christmas Day for a few days to hang with his parents, grandma, and brothers. I also got to finally meet his cousin that lives in Japan over New Years outside of Chicago. It wasn’t the most relaxing break; however, it was so nice being able to celebrate with loved ones.
We also got to see friends at our BEST FRIENDS’ wedding! It was the first of 7 weddings we’ll be attending this year (yikes), but what a way to kick off the year of weddings. Hugh was Co-Best Man and we loved every second of the weekend catching up with college friends.
AR Workshop
Have you ever done one of those Painted with a Twist classes where they guide you through painting a canvas and you BYOB? AR Workshop in Ferndale is just like that but with wood-working projects! I got a little group of girlfriends together the week before Christmas for a couple hours of wine and DIY! The ladies helping us with our creations were so nice and they make it super easy for all experience and skill levels. I definitely want to go back again and again to make more things (and maybe try to use my own Cricut machine and tools to DIY at home). I chose this Let It Snow sign for our front porch. Other girls in my group chose Christmas trays, a big clock, and a blanket ladder. So fun!
Girls Night podcast
One of my favorite ways to find new podcasts is to search for episodes featuring people I like. I adore Kailey Dickerson (wife of country music star Russell Dickerson) and stumbled upon an episode where she sat down with some girlfriends to talk about marriage. I’m now obsessed with that podcast, Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson. Stephanie brings on real-life and new girlfriends to talk about all kinds of topics – I learn so much from everyone’s perspectives and stories. She has a huge episode library, so I’ve been browsing through to catch up on topics that stand out to me. Highly recommend!
Audiobooks
Do you like reading physical books, e-books, or audiobooks? I’m a fan of all three! I typically have a non-fiction physical book, fictional book on Kindle, and fictional audiobook in progress at all times. I also just got on Goodreads (follow me!) – it’s a great way to see reviews and recommendations from other readers.
Bri McKoy’s Popcorn & Bubbles masterclass
Hugh and I signed up for a six week food and wine pairing online masterclass in November. We loved it so much! I had known of Bri McKoy because of her relationship with other internet people I follow (Jamie Golden of the Popcast, the Lazy Genius Kendra Adachi, and Laura Tremaine), but didn’t realize how much of a gem she is! We had some basic knowledge of wine and winemaking; however, we learned so much about tasting it and pairing with food. She has a food blog OurSavoryLife.com and truly delicious recipes and cookbooks. The recipes in the masterclass leveled us up in the kitchen. We’ve now repeated some of the meals several times since December!
