You know when you wait to call someone back or follow up on something at work and the longer you wait, the more awkward it gets? That has been me and this blog. The longer I went without writing a post, the more I felt like I had to explain the break and the more I hesitated. Especially after explaining some absence through the end of summer in another Life Updates post in August, I didn’t know what to do!
But I really love this creative outlet! So if you would please forgive my hiatus, I think I’m back! First, I want to catch you up on the last few months.
Minimony & Honeymoon
So we postponed our September 2020 wedding, but still got married on our original date! I call our little ceremony with immediate family and close friends our “minimony” (and shared a post about planning one). We’re doing the big event this September, so expect lots of wedding content! #covidbride
We planned our Jamaican honeymoon pre-COVID and got to go on it! We had to do PCR tests and jump through some hoops, but it made the minimony seem much more wedding-like. We stayed at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hill in Montego Bay and the whole experience was lovely. The resort was almost empty (like probably 10% capacity) and was so peaceful!
New House
We bought a house! It’s been so fun to decorate and enjoy our space (especially still in quarantine). It was built in 2018, so it doesn’t need a lot of work. Check out my empty house tour on Insta here. We painted the basement and turned it into a gym and have a big patio project scheduled for this spring. Expect more home content on here now, too!
New Jobs and Promotions
As if getting married and buying a house wasn’t enough this fall, Hugh and I also both got promoted! I still work for GM, but joined a new team and now coordinate a really exciting training program. We’re figuring everything out as we go and I’m challenged every day. Hugh now runs two Penske branches and continues to be a superstar.
Life in Quarantine
We haven’t had a lot of excitement (besides the major life changes), especially since Michigan was pretty shut down from mid-November through like March. We were lucky enough to consistently see my fam and a couple close friends we knew were being careful though! Right after Christmas, we even drove down to Kansas City to spend time with Hugh’s family and a few good friends. (If you’re new here, I lived in KC for about 3 years right out of college.) We are SO EXCITED to get vaccinated and get back out into the world!
I think that catches you up! Stay tuned for more consistent content. I’m so excited to share more with you going forward. Thanks for reading!
