Life Updates – July & August

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I took a little break from blogging because 1. I felt like I was forcing my regular posts and would only end up doing the Friday Five post each week and 2. truthfully, I was scrolling social media a lot more during quarantine and lost some confidence. “Who am I to tell people what’s working for me during these unprecedented times when I have no idea? Is it even interesting to hear about my social distanced life? What if people judge me for going to restaurants or regularly seeing my family?” I’ve since realized this outlook is totally wrong and I need to continue sharing my experiences with you guys if that’s what I want to do. And I miss blogging! So here we are.

I have a couple big life things to tell you about since my last FF post in early July. First (maybe not new life thing if you’ve read my post about postponing our wedding) is that we have our “minimony” wedding weekend planned out and approaching quickly! 39 days and counting. Since Michigan is still fairly restricted, we will be with just our close families and Hugh’s best man, who will officiate our marriage! More to come about what we’ve planned, what we’re leaving out until next year’s celebration, and how we’re handling COVID restrictions.

Second major life update is we’re buying our first home! We started looking for a house, toured a few, and had an offer accepted all in one week. Hugh and I have grown out of apartment life and are ready to be homeowners together. We close at the end of this month! Get ready to see some of our DIY projects and decor.

Besides those two huge upcoming events, quarantine life hasn’t changed much. I’m still working from home in the foreseeable future and Hugh still goes into work with strict policies. We see my family in Saline or up at the lake, occasionally visiting with other family or friends. We’ve been to a few restaurant patios and dining rooms if we feel they’re socially distancing well. It kind of feels like the calm before the (happy, possibly chaotic) storm of getting married and buying a house coming this fall. I’m trying to lean into this season the best I can.

Well, that’s my life update for right now. I’m excited to start posting on here more often again. Thanks for following along!
