Friday Five – Things I’m Loving #48

Happy Friday! I’m heading into 9 days of summer vacation!!! At GM in North America, we have a July shutdown every Fourth of July week. Most of the plants stop production and the majority of employees take ome or two weeks of vacation. We’re headed up to the Cottage with my fam!

I need to queue up some songs on Spotify for the car ride, so I’m gonna dive right in! Here are this week’s Five.

Playing tennis with Hugh

Hugh and I have never had any tennis training beyond high school gym class. We have a few parks within walking distance that have open courts, so we decided to borrow my sister’s rackets and try it out. We are trash, but it’s fun!

This cocktail from Pinky’s Rooftop

Pinky’s is a really cute, trendy restaurant downtown Royal Oak. Every time we go, I get the cocktail called Thank U Next. It’s vanilla vodka, blood orange and lemon juices, and a vegan egg white substitute called fava water. I need to figure out how to make it at home! So yummy.

Party Of Two

I love Jasmine Guillory’s Wedding Date series (I wrote about her back in Friday Five #7!) and the fifth book came out this week! I finished in it like two days. I really like that each book is told from both the girl and guy’s perspectives and that the stories are mostly separate but have overlapping characters. For example, the main female character of this one is the older sister of the main character of another book in the series. I highly recommend them all!

Caramelized Onion Spinach + Feta Turkey Burgers

This recipe from the Toasted Pine Nut is great! (Photo from thetoastedpinenut.com)

Why add toppings to a burger when you can mix them in? Feta is a favorite of mine and goes really well with onions, spinach, and the cumin-y ground turkey. Using sweet potatoes as buns is fun, too.

Buffaloed

This movie kind of randomly popped up on our Hulu this week and was pretty good! The language is pretty intense, but it was unique and funny. Hugh and I both enjoyed it. Did you know buffalo is also a verb that means to intimidate?

Okay that’s all for this week! Thanks for reading today’s post.

What’s making you feel like summer has arrived?

Does it feel like summer for you yet? Was it that first trip out for ice cream? Bonfire in the backyard? I’d love to hear in the comments!
