Friday Five – Things I’m Loving #5

Hello, hello! Happy Labor Day Weekend! Do you have holiday weekend plans? Unlike what seems like the rest of the state of Michigan, we are not headed Up North. BUT we are flying down to Rosemary Beach Florida on Sunday! It should be a week of relaxing, beautiful beaches, and quality time with Hugh’s family. And (fingers crossed) we should be far enough west to avoid the hurricane.

I’ve rounded up some of the things I’m into this week. They’re pretty random this week, but I hope you get inspired to try something new or think about what brought you joy this week. Here we go!

Lake life

Last Friday night, I took a last-minute 24-hour trip Up North. Life really is better at the lake. All the clichés are true! I spent time with my sister, brother-in-law, and their two kiddos. The best part was the long boat ride we took in the morning – coffees in our hands and buddled up babies in our arms. Summer, please don’t end!

Foam rolling

Still super new to this, but loving it so far! I’ve always been intimidated by foam rolling even though I knew it’s great for your muscles and flexibility/mobility. I found a medium firmness little roller on Amazon thinking it might hurt a little less to start. Definitely hurts quite a bit, but hurts so good (you know what I mean?). Trying to roll a few times per week.

Kelp noodles

Ever since listening to Episode 351 of the Model Health Show about “Nutrition Under the Sea” earlier this summer, I’ve been wanting to try the various seaweeds and algae Shawn talked about. I ordered some Sea Tandle Noodle Company kelp noodles from Thrive Market (check out my Friday Five #3 to learn more about it), and threw them into a stir fry one night this week. They were delicious! The kelp had no flavor or weird smell like I expected – they reminded me of glass rice noodles. But better because they’re only 3 carbs per serving and contain vitamins and minerals from the kelp! More are already in our cart for next order.

Great Jones cookware

We have been in pursuit of a decent non-stick pan for YEARS. They start off fine, but within a few months, eggs and fish start to stick and fall apart! I saw Great Jones on Instagram and decided to try out their Small Fry non-stick pan. I’m in love! First off, it’s really pretty. The handle is rose gold in this beautiful, comfortable-to-hold shape. The best part is that the handle is rivet-less so you don’t have to scrub at those little crevices on the inside! The pans are ceramic and Teflon-free, and the company was founded by two women! Highly recommend.

STōK cold brew

People are going crazy for their PSLs already, but I refuse to let summer go yet – it’s so hot outside! I’m still into my cold brew. STōK’s is super smooth, inexpensive, and unsweetened. It’s extra yummy with hazelnut milk or creamer, but I typically just have mine black (like most coffee).

There you have it – my Friday Five! Expect some vacation-related things next week when I’m at the beach (SO excited!). Have a great weekend, friends!
